Natural childbirth, which can be defined as birth itself, is based on the principle that the birth takes place with as little intervention as possible. The reason why it is defined as “natural” or “normal” is due to the development of methods that facilitate childbirth or that have resulted from various medical requirements over time. As the process of birth begins, the mother’s body and the baby are well aware of what to do during this natural process. The necessary thing here is a correct guidance. The most crucial matter in natural childbirth is that the mother feels safe and comfortable.
The birth process begins approximately at the 40th week from the beginning of the pregnancy. The expectant mother experiences contractions that come and go at first, and the intensity and frequency of these contractions gradually increase. These contractions allow the baby to come out by opening the cervix up.
There are 3 stages in natural childbirth. The first stage is the process of the uterus opening due to contractions and reaching full opening for childbirth. The second stage is the birth of the baby, and the third stage is the delivery of the placenta.
